Archaeologists have unearthed a massive stone tablet outside of Florence they believe will lead to a greater understanding of the ancient Etruscan civilization, an advanced civilization whose cities ranged up and down the west coast of Italy between 2800 and 2400 years ago, an Ars Technica report said Wednesday. The Etruscans were believed to be the model for ancient Greece and Rome, the report said and the people lived in city states with luxuriant palaces, beautiful art and a complicated social structure in which women were considered and acted as men’s equals.
