Grandma's Easy Chocolate Snowball Recipe
My grandmother called this recipe her Chocolate Snowball because it was chocolate and it was cold. It is the very first thing I ever remember learning how to make by myself in a kitchen, and I have fond memories of her teaching me.
This simple dessert only has two ingredients, does not require any use of the stove, and is a fun treat to make with kids.
I asked once where the recipe came from and Mommom told me that she read about something similar in the newspaper, but it was more complicated and used more expensive ingredients, so she made due with what she had. The result became a family tradition. Now I love that her memory lives on every time I make it with my own kids.
To make Chocolate Snowball you need:
-one can of chocolate syrup
-two cans of milk (Use the can from the syrup)
Alternatively, you can use one can of milk and one can of water.
Directions:
In a square, freezer safe dish mix the chocolate and the liquid together. Stir well. This is a great job for kids!
Clear a level space in your freezer and freeze the mixture for several hours or overnight.
Once the mixture is solid, have an adult use a knife to cut it into thin strips. Then break each of those strips into smaller chunks and serve it in a dessert glass (or plastic cup for kids).
Vanilla ice cream is a great compliment as well!
