Prosecutors Rarely Sanctioned For Judicial Misconduct Sending Innocents To Jail

Prosecutors are rarely ever punished for misconduct that leads to innocent people being sent to prison, a new report from a non-profit legal aid organization said Tuesday. The report, undertaken by the legal aid organization The Innocence Project and reported by Sputnik, examined 660 cases from 2004-2008 in which courts founds instances of prosecutorial misconduct. Of the 660 cases – which ranged from mischaracterizing evidence to suborning perjury, 527 of the cases judges upheld the convictions despite the misconduct.
