Meyerton man electrocuted

A 38-year-old man has been electrocuted on a farm in Meyerton, Gauteng, say paramedics.

Johannesburg – A 38-year-old man was electrocuted on a farm in Meyerton, Gauteng, on Saturday afternoon, paramedics said.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the man was handling a borehole drilling machine when he allegedly touched the overhead power cables,” Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said.

“When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on [the] scene they began administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation [CPR]. CPR went on for 30 minutes but sadly there was nothing else they could do for the man.”

The man was declared dead on the scene, Mathe said.
