EEC approves import of equipment for Iran- Armenia power transmission line from import customs duties
YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. The Eurasian Economic Commission's Board has approved a draft decision exempting the import of equipment and components to Armenia for the construction of the third power transmission line between Iran and Armenia from customs duties.
The measure is aimed at ensuring the fulfillment of international obligations by the Republic of Armenia for the construction of the third power line between Iran and Armenia.
The agreement on the construction of the third power transmission line between Iran and Armenia to connect the energy systems of the two countries was signed in 2015 August.
The contract, estimated to cost 107 million euros, calls for the construction of a 275 km-long transmission line in two years. This is supposed to triple the volume of electricity swaps between Iran and Armenia.
The project is expected also to connect Iran’s energy systems to energy systems of Georgia and Russia. The third transmission line with the capacity of 400 kW, will facilitate also the shipment of Armenia-generated power to Iran in return for Iranian gas supplied to the Yerevan thermal power plant.-0-
