Cape Town - After two minutes of fame and a set of dentures, Ocean View buskers Morne Holland and Elton November have apparently split up.

A heartbroken November said that Holland dropped him and his keyboard like a hot potato and is now “hanging out with the sterre (stars)”.

The two unemployed dads became famous after a video of them performing on a train went viral.

Singer Holland was offered new dentures by a dentist, as well as a spot on Jonathan Rubain’s show at the Baxter, while a studio offered the duo the opportunity to record original songs.

But a disappointed November said now that Holland has a taste of the good life, he prefers to fly solo.

November said: “[On Wednesday] night he WhatsApped me saying that he is going solo and doing his own thing.

“I’ve always told him to let me know if he wants to be a solo act but he said no, we’re in this together. But yeah, that’s seker (probably) life.”

However, Holland, who was recently seen rubbing shoulders with stars like Loukmaan Adams, Alistair Izobell and David Kramer, said he is still part of The Buskers.

He said: “No, I did not sign with anybody, me and November are still together, I just got the opportunity to go away for the weekend.”

Holland said that The Buskers had “no reason to split”.

“We were supposed to start recording [yesterday] and the guy at BigHouse said that we have two gigs for Monday so how can I drop him now? That’s what we’ve been waiting for.”

November said his childhood friend is lying: “Yes, I feel a bit betrayed but I’m fine, I hope he gets all the opportunities he can get.”

The Daily Voice also has it on good authority from a famous local singer that the buskers have split.

November said he’s not giving up on his own dreams of becoming a star.

“I also have a few big things coming my way.

“I might be going to Italy for six months to expand my music and I’ll be recording a single with another vocalist who used to busk with us back in the day, and I’m excited for that,” he said.
