Tzaneen - In what police are calling a “love triangle”, a Limpopo man allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend’s lover in Ga-Magonya village outside of Tzaneen.

Police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said the fatal shooting took place during an “alleged love triangle incident” where the victim and the suspect met at their girlfriend’s home and a fight ensued.

According to Ngoepe, the 41-year-old victim left the house and made his way to his car. The victim was then allegedly shot in the back by the suspect, causing him to lose control of the car. He was declared dead on the scene.

The suspect later handed himself over to police. The firearm allegedly used to shoot the victim was also recovered.

While police investigations into the matter continue, the suspect was expected to appear soon in the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.
