|||Musician Koyo Bala has lost his battle with cancer.
Bala was a member of the popular gay Afro-pop group 3Sum.
He passed away on Monday morning at Groote Schuur hospital in Cape Town.
The 37-year-old had been diagnosed with rectal cancer two years ago. In an interview with a daily newspaper, he revealed that the cancer had spread to his bladder. He, however, remained optimistic that he would beat the disease.
“I was told I must take six months off my schedule to get better. It is going to be a difficult few months, but I know I can beat this cancer,” he said in 2015.
Bala is the second member to 3Sum to have passed away after Jeff Moyo in 2010.
