Ex-DJ in dock for rape threats

A former presenter from a community radio station is accused of making several phone calls to a 22-year-old woman in which he allegedly threatened to rape her.

Port Elizabeth – A former presenter from a community radio station appeared in the Port Elizabeth magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of sexual assault.

The 36-year old former presenter, who worked for the contemporary christian radio station and cannot be named until he has pleaded, is currently out on bail of R2 000.

According to the state, the former presenter, who was arrested in August last year, allegedly made several threatening phone calls to a 22-year-old woman.

He allegedly claimed that he was going to rape and sexually assault her.

The DJ is being represented by well known Cape Town defence attorney William Booth.

The case was postponed until April 8 for the state and defence to consult.
