Tankers waiting to load Kazakh oil attacked near CPC terminal - Reuters

Tengrinews.kz – Oil tankers waiting to load Kazakh crude were attacked by drones near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal in the Black Sea, citing Reuters.

According to the agency, at least two oil tankers were targeted on Tuesday near the CPC terminal, which handles around 80 percent of Kazakhstan’s oil exports. One of the vessels, Delta Harmony, is operated by Greek company Delta Tankers and was scheduled to load oil from the Tengizchevroil project. The second tanker, Matilda, operated by Greek firm Thenamaris, was waiting to load crude from the Karachaganak field.

A Thenamaris representative confirmed that the tanker Matilda was hit by two drones approximately 30 miles from the CPC terminal. No injuries were reported, and the vessel sustained minor damage to deck structures, which is considered fully repairable. Following the incident, the tanker left the area.

Reuters also reports that, according to maritime security sources, a fire briefly broke out on board one of the vessels but was quickly extinguished. In total, up to four Greek-managed tankers may have been affected near the CPC terminal.

The CPC pipeline transports oil from Kazakhstan through Russia to the Black Sea, with shipments exported via the marine terminal near Novorossiysk. The consortium remains a critical route for Kazakhstan’s oil exports.

Tengrinews.kz is awaiting official comments on the situation from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy and the CPC press service.

It should be recalled that on November 29, 2025, CPC marine infrastructure near Novorossiysk was also attacked, resulting in serious damage to one of the offshore mooring facilities. At that time, Kazakhstan’s Energy Ministry activated emergency measures to redirect oil exports to alternative routes.
