Finland has contributed EUR 700,000 to support trade growth in least-developed countries (LDCs) through projects funded by the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF). The 9th Global Review of Aid for Trade entitled “Mainstreaming Trade into Development Strategies” wrapped up on 28 June after three days of discussions involving over 1,000 participants and more than 60 sessions looking into how developing economies can maximize the potential of trade to boost economic growth and improve living standards. “The Aid-for-Trade initiative remains vital for ensuring that the benefits of trade are widely shared,” Deputy Director-General Xiangchen Zhang said in closing the event.
The WTO and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 28 June to enhance cooperation and collaboration on a range of issues, including food and agricultural trade, trade finance, and fisheries subsidies. The MoU also establishes a broad framework for collaboration in other potential areas of mutual interest.
