Pulisic, Saelemaekers and Estupinan: latest Milan injury updates

0

Alexis Saelemaekers suffered a suspected flexor injury while on Belgium international duty and is not expected to be available for the next game against Fiorentina, while Christian Pulisic and Pervis Estupinan should be eligible to play.

Milan will likely be forced to cope without Belgian winger Saelemaekers in their next Serie A game against Fiorentina on October 19.

Milan winger Saelemaekers could remain out of action for a month

The Rossoneri winger was subbed off in the second half of a game against North Macedonia earlier this week and has returned to Milan for further medical tests.

Sunday’s printed edition of Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Belgian could be forced out of action for up to a month, although only the upcoming medical tests will determine the extent of his injury.

There seemed to be troubles on the opposite flank as well, as Estupinan was forced out of action before the break in an Ecuador friendly against the USA last night.

The former Brighton full-back, however, will remain with his national team and has a chance to recover for a friendly against Mexico on Wednesday (4:30 AM CET). This means he should be eligible to play against Fiorentina, although whether he’ll be fit to start remains uncertain.

Last but not least is Serie A top goalscorer Christian Pulisic, who was introduced as a substitute in the final minutes of the game against Ecuador on Saturday.

USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino said the Milan star had been dealing with an ankle swelling before the game, so he started on the bench against Ecuador.

Pochettino, however, hopes Pulisic will be fit to start against Australia in another international friendly on Wednesday, so Milan are confident that the American star will be eligible against Fiorentina next weekend.
