A'ja Wilson revealed the simple reason why she didn't play in Unrivaled
When Unrivaled launched earlier this year, many wondered if some of the WNBA’s biggest names, like Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson, would play.
After much speculation, news began permeating that Clark declined her invitation. But what about Wilson? Would she be involved?
Well, she didn’t join. We know that now, but we still didn’t know why.
However, Wilson shared the simple yet straightforward reason she didn’t participate. “I like to enjoy my offseason,” she told Lucy Feldman of Time recently.
That makes sense and may be the same reason Clark didn’t either (which we tried warn people about). However, Wilson explained her thoughts very well. Here’s what she said about playing in the new 3×3 league:
“That’s my time to really just decompress. Unrivaled seems great. My teammates are loving it. Obviously, the money in it is amazing. And it’s like, ‘Dang, missing out.’
“But wholeheartedly, not even trying to front—I just didn’t want to. I just want to protect my peace. Because once the season gets in, no one’s gonna think, ‘Oh, you just got done playing Unrivaled, let’s take it easy.'”
