UFC 312 video: Tallison Teixeira crushes Justin Tafa with brutal elbow strike for 35-second knockout 

Tallison Teixeira was preaching patience ahead of his octagon debut but that all changed after he slammed his elbow directly into Justin Tafa’s nose that led to a first-round stoppage in their heavyweight showdown at UFC 312.

It was an impressive showing from the undefeated Brazilian after he opened the fight with a huge head kick that reverberated off Tafa’s arms before he closed the distance to move into the clinch against the cage. From there, Teixeira unloaded a huge elbow strikes that blasted Tafa with replays showing his nose getting absolutely demolished from what was ultimately the fight finishing blow.

Tafa dropped to the canvas and the referee wasted no time rushing in to save him from further harm with the end coming at just 35 seconds into the opening round.

“I’ve been working really hard,” Teixeira said after his win. “You try to find that way in. He’s a tough opponent. Unfortunately for him, fortunately for me it was my day. I know he’s a tough guy. I figured he was able to defend the takedown but I knew one thing, he was going to lower his head and that’s when I was going to finish the fight.”

Teixeira had a lot of eyes on him coming into the fight with his massive 6-foot-7 frame and a perfect record that included all first round finishes. That’s why Teixeira was aiming to show he could go further than the first five minutes on Saturday but Tafa just never gave him the chance.

Once Teixeira connected with that elbow, Tafa’s night was over and the giant Brazilian officially moved to 1-0 in his UFC career.

Overall, Texieira sports a perfect 8-0 record and he immediately becomes a very interesting addition to the UFC’s heavyweight division.
