MANDAUE CITY, CEBU – IBF number one light flyweight contender Cristian “The Bomb” Araneta of the Philippines will face Thai Sanchai Yotboon in a non-title contest this Wednesday December 11 at the IPI Gym in Mandaue City.
Araneta (24-2,19KO’s) is coming off an injury after his sensational first round TKO win against Arvin Magramo last January. This win propelled Araneta to the top of the IBF rankings making him the number one challenger to the current champion Masamichi Yabuki (17-4,16KO’s) of Japan.
Yotboon (16-8,10KO’s) was stopped in the first round here in Cebu last May by former two-time world minimumweight champion Vic Saludar. Yotboon has scored two wins in Thailand since that loss. Both Araneta and Yotboon easily made weight during the official weigh in Tuesday.
Promoter Pio Paulo Castillo is looking forward to Araneta finally getting the elusive world title next year.
Top lightweight amateur prospect Alexander Fredriksson from Sweden, who has Filipino roots, will take on Jubmark Pan. Both are making their pro debut.
Ramil Roda (6-1.3KO’s) will be pitted against Ian Donaire (5-3-1,4Ko’s) for the Philippine Boxing Federation 115 lb division title. Both easily made the contracted weight.
The card billed as KUMBATI 18 is presented by International Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (IPI) and Omega Boxing Promotions.
