The Rams got away with a blatant false start on the gutsy fourth-down conversion against the Bills

When it comes to penalties, there aren’t many easier ones to spot than a false start. Officials all over the field have a view for that. Yet, it sure looked like the Rams got away with one in a huge moment on Sunday.

With the Rams up three points late in their Week 14 game against the Bills, Sean McVay elected to go for it on fourth-and-5 rather than kick the field goal. It was a beyond-gutsy call as a turnover on downs would have given Josh Allen a chance to lead a comeback drive.

Well, the Rams converted on the play, and they got some help from the officials. Keep an eye on right tackle Rob Havenstein.

Havenstein moved before the snap. And Tom Brady — who isn’t supposed to criticize officials — still managed to point out the uncalled penalty. It was that obvious.

It was crucial too as the Rams added a touchdown to extend the lead to two scores on the drive.
