Sooners bear down to upset No. 24 Arizona
BAHAMAS (KFOR) -- The undefeated Oklahoma Sooners men's basketball team might start garnering some votes in next week's AP Poll. OU has now earned two quality wins down in the Bahamas during the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Sooners beat previously undefeated Providence on Wednesday, and followed it up by taking down No. 24 Arizona on Thursday.
Arizona scored the first two points of the game, but OU wouldn't trail the rest of the game following a Jeremiah Fears three that put OU up 3-2 at the 17:49 minute mark of the first half.
It was a tight game throughout, with the Wildcats making a push at the Sooners a couple times, but Porter Moser's team was able to respond to every Arizona run.
OU held off the No. 24 Cats to win 82-77 and move their record to 6-0 on the season. The Sooners were led by freshman point guard Jeremiah Fears, who's making a tournament MVP case, and senior forward Jalon Moore. Fears had 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Moore added in 24 points and 7 rebounds. OU also got double-digit scoring efforts from Duke Miles, who had 11 points, and Luke Northweather, who added in 10 points and 7 rebounds.
The Sooners now advance to face Louisville in the Battle 4 Atlantis Championship Game on Friday at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN.
