Sooners Reap Big Collection Of Awards Following Win Over Alabama
Oklahoma's football team collected no fewer than five weekly honors and had a player honored for his season-long efforts on Monday.
OU's 24-3 win over #7 Alabama earned the team the Football Writers Association of America national team of the week honors.
Sooner coach Brent Venables was named the Bobby Dodd Trophy national coach of the week.
Oklahoma had three players earn weekly Southeastern Conference honors.
Running back Xavier Robinson was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week.
Robinson rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns against the Crimson Tide.
Febechi Nwaiwu was named the SEC co-Offensive Lineman of the Week.
R Mason Thomas was named the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Thomas had three tackles, a sack and a quarterback hurry that caused an interception against the Crimson Tide.
OU linebacker Danny Stutsman was named one of five finalists for the Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker.
The winner will be named December 10.
Oklahoma closes the regular season Saturday at LSU at 6:00 pm.
