Premiere of the documentary ‘The Flame of Peace – Peace and Sport around the world’
On 19 September at the Théâtre Princesse Grace, the Peace and Sport documentary ‘La flamme de la paix’ (The Flame of Peace) was screened in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II; Joël BOUZOU, President and Founder of Peace and Sport; Marlène NIDECKER, Representative of the Champions for Peace and Olympic taekwondo medallist; Jean-Jérôme PERRIN-MORTIER, Managing Director of Peace and Sport and numerous officials from the Principality.
This 52-minute documentary, produced by the Princely Government’s Communications Department, provides an insight into the genesis of this unique organisation, highlighting its history, its successes, its challenges and the human encounters behind each project.
‘Sport is much more than a spectacle; it is a solution, a vehicle for peace based on fairness and respect. This vision, shared with H.S.H. Prince Albert II, is illustrated in this documentary through concrete actions carried out all over the world’. – Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport
For 1 year, a team from Monaco Info accompanied Peace and Sport on its training and advocacy missions around the world. From Monaco to the Middle East, Latin America, India and Africa, this documentary highlights the work of Peace and Sport.
‘The idea behind this documentary was to put our expertise at the service of a vision, that of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, of sport as a tool for peace and development: to let people know what we are doing is to demonstrate through proof’. Geneviève Berti, Director of Communications, after the screening.
The testimonials are part of a story that began in Monaco in 2007 and is now being written around the world. Beneficiaries of the Peace and Sport methodology around the world recount the impact of ambassadors for peace in their environments. A true diplomatic model, Peace and Sport is also an influence, that of a Principality that wants to be the world capital of sport in the service of peace.
Anchored in the neutrality of the Principality of Monaco and founded on the conviction that sport can play a crucial role in promoting peace, Peace and Sport demonstrates through its commitment around the world that sport-based initiatives can foster social development.
