Bears Spotted Eyeing The Next Micah Parsons

0

It isn’t a secret the Chicago Bears are hoping to find another high-end pass rush to pair with Montez Sweat. They weren’t able to find one this season. So they’ve contented themselves with a rotation of Darrell Taylor, DeMarcus Walker, and Austin Booker. It will do for now. Come the 2025 off-season, it won’t be a shock if they aim for that elusive second rusher early in the draft. Don’t believe it? Just look at where their scouts popped up this week. Some were watching Nic Scourton of Texas A&M against Missouri. Maybe the more interesting name they got caught watching is Abdul Carter. Up until this year, the Penn State standout was an off-ball linebacker. However, he has since switched to edge rusher. Many see him as the next Micah Parsons.

He wears the same number, is similar in size, and has similar athleticism. He has three sacks in five games and 1.5 tackles for a loss in the win over UCLA this weekend. The scariest thing about Carter is that he doesn’t have any experience with this. His having such an impact quickly speaks to his massive physical upside. The Bears’ interest in him is easy to understand.

Assuming Carter is another Micah Parsons is dangerous.

The Dallas Cowboys superstar is a special player. You don’t grow guys like him on trees. That said, certain coaches and programs have a knack for identifying playmakers at certain positions. Michigan has proven that in recent years at edge rusher with Frank Clark, Rashan Gary, and Aidan Hutchinson. So, there is a reasonable chance that Carter can become a great player in his own right. That is what the Bears are hoping to find out as the scouting process unfolds.

If he somehow is another Micah Parsons? Landing him would change the entire landscape of an already good defense. Chicago ranks top 10 in scoring and total yards this year. Were they to add a pass rusher of that caliber, they could become one of the best in the NFL. It would certainly make this team more formidable, especially in what might be the most loaded division in the league.
