Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week: Julia Grigorescu, Milpitas volleyball

Milpitas volleyball player Julia Grigorescu is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for Sept. 23-28.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Grigorescu finished with 41.65% of the votes. Fremont-Sunnyvale field hockey player Maddie Dhillon and James Logan volleyball player McKenzie Anderson were runners-up.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

In victories over Cupertino and Wilcox, Grigorescu, a junior, had 23 kills, eight aces, 30 digs and 26 serve receptions. Milpitas ended the week on an eight-match winning streak.
