KATE ABDO has revealed how she and Jamie Carragher moved past his “inappropriate” comment about her personal life.

CBS Sports’ Champions League presenter Abdo, 43, and Liverpool legend Carragher, 46, have been colleagues on the American broadcaster for several years.

But in March the ex-England defender made an awkward joke that received widespread criticism.

After Manchester United fan Abdo insisted she was “loyal” to the Red Devils, Carragher responded: “Not to Malik,” meaning her fiancee, now husband, Malik Scott.

To which Abdo replied: “What, why would you even say that?”

Abdo then quashed the incident the next time she appeared on air, saying: “The middle child, Jamie Carragher, a chip on his shoulder, capable of saying anything for attention.

“Does he go too far sometimes? Absolutely. But does he apologise? Yes he does.

“But we all have that one annoying family member that we still love and accept.”

Former heavyweight boxer Scott also took umbrage with Carragher’s remark, claiming he’ll “show up in a physical manner” if it happened again.

Now Abdo has explained the reconciliation was dealt with behind closed doors and will remain a private matter.

Speaking to The Ringer, she said: “I think the reason that we function well is because we needle each other.

“That’s like a sports team, right? I feel like those inappropriate conversations should be had in the locker room and kept in the locker room.

“You deal with them internally, and then you move on.”

Carragher also spoke on the matter, admitting he was a “little child” who deserved the criticism he received.

He said: “We never ignore the elephants in the room.

“I was a little child. I was just getting a little smack and getting put back in place, and rightly so.”
