SNOOKER star Kyren Wilson described his world title triumph as a “pinch me feeling”.

Wilson, 32, won the 2024 World Snooker Championship in May after beating Jak Jones in the final 18-14.

This marked an emotional night for The Warrior, who became King of the Crucible for the first time.

The Kettering star had to battle through his kids’ health scares and private turmoil.

The British fan favourite is currently in action at the English Open where he made it to the Last 32 after a 4-1 win over David Grace.

The world champion is enjoying immense momentum after also winning the Xi’an Grand Prix last month when he defeated Judd Trump.

But he still needs to remind himself that he has realised his biggest childhood dream by pinching himself.

Wilson told WST: “Every now and then I have to remind myself I’m World Champion.

“It is a pinch me feeling. I’ve dreamed of it since I was six years old. It is something that does scare me.

“It was an unbelievable feeling I will never be able to replicate, but I can still get a high of winning events like I did in Xi’an. That is still the focus.”

Wilson juggled major setbacks at home, which reduced the length and frequency of practice sessions before winning the snooker world title.

He had to drive his two sons to school as well as hospital appointments.

That was because his wife Sophie had to give up her driving licence because of epilepsy.
