NFL Week 2 player props: Going all in on Isaiah Likely, J.K. Dobbins after Week 1 breakouts
Mark Andrew has been one of the best tight ends in the NFL for the last half-decade, so it was surprising to see another tight end emerge as Lamar Jackson’s favorite target in Week 1.
Isaiah Likely had a monster game against the Kansas City Chiefs, out-targeting Andrews 12-to-2 to lead the Baltimore Ravens with nine catches for 111 yards and a touchdown in the close loss. And it could have been more if his foot wasn’t out of bounds on the last play.
So what does he have for an encore?
Oddsmakers seem just as miffed about the breakout as anyone. Likely’s receiving yards line for Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders is just 35.5, which shows an expectation for him to fall back into his TE2 role — Andrews out-snapped Likely 59-53 against KC — or that a run-heavy game script will work against him.
I couldn’t disagree more. When a player balls like that, you don’t just stop throwing him the ball. Likely will remain a big part of Baltimore’s passing game, and the Ravens won’t need to pass much for the big man to hit this over with ease.
