LUKE LITTLER broke the record for the highest-ever average in a PDC event in Belgium as he stormed into the Flanders Darts Trophy third round.

The Nuke, 17, breezed past Dutchman Jermaine Wattimena 6-1 to set up a clash with fan-favourite Dirk van Duijvenbode.

He averaged a spectacular 111.13 in his win over Wattimena, surpassing the previous highest average at a PDC event in Belgium set by Luke Humphries.

World champion Humphries’ record stood at 110.65, while Littler’s previous best was 110.06.

Littler‘s display was a statement to the rest of those in the Flanders Darts Trophy draw.

The third round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will all take place on Sunday.

And first up for the teenage superstar is a match against another Dutchman in Van Duijvenbode.

He is nicknamed the “Aubergenius” thanks to his job on an aubergine farm.

Van Duijvenbode often comes on stage with an aubergine in hand, sending crowds wild.

Littler will be the overwhelming favourite to progress through to the last eight where Danny Noppert or Ricardo Pietreczko will be waiting.

Win both of those and Littler could set up a semi-final clash with No1 seed and reigning world champion Humphries.

Humphries, who is returning to action after holidaying with his family in Turkey, averaged just over 100 in his win over Ritchie Edhouse.

The Flanders Darts Trophy is the 10th of 13 PDC European Tour events on the 2024 PDC Pro Tour.

Littler is gunning for his third victory following wins in Belgium and Austria earlier in the season.
