Ryan Poles Gives Interesting Update On Kiran Amegadjie

0

The Chicago Bears 2024 draft class has not disappointed this preseason. Caleb Williams led four scoring drives across two games, capping it with a touchdown run on a wild scramble. Rome Odunze made a beautiful catch on a 45-yard bomb and would’ve had a touchdown if he’d kept his feet in bounds. Tory Taylor has averaged 49.2 yards per punt. Austin Booker has three sacks and seven QB pressures. Only one name was absent from the action. That was 3rd round pick Kiran Amegadjie. The big tackle out of Yale has been working his way back from a quad injury suffered last season. He finally returned to practice this week. GM Ryan Poles got the opportunity to provide an update on the Hoge & Jahns podcast.

He’s happy with the way the training staff has handled the young lineman, making sure not to rush him back too quickly despite Amegadjie’s burning desire to return. The young tackle is healthy now. Next is working to knock the rust off. If things go as planned, Poles provided an idea of when the rookie will get into games.

Ryan Poles seems intent on getting Amegadjie real work.

That should give you an idea of how much the Bears GM likes the kid. There are big plans for him. The only question is where he ends up. Poles stated there was a legitimate possibility could end up becoming the team’s left tackle, depending on what happens with Braxton Jones. However, it likely won’t be limited to that spot. Amegadjie also has experience as a guard. That means the Bears could slot him into one of those spots, depending on what happens with Teven Jenkins and Nate Davis. Both have long track records of not staying healthy. Ryan Poles isn’t hiding his excitement for what Amegadjie brings to the table. His size, length, athleticism, and power are all evident on his tape. The only thing he needs is reps working against NFL-caliber competition. That will come over the next couple of months.
