Watch shocking moment team loses penalty shootout on PURPOSE after bizarre new rule is introduced

FORGET walking off the footie pitch in protest, when you can miss EVERY penalty on purpose instead.

Venezuelan side Caracas FC decided to shoot their penalties far and wide to protest against the officiating in their 1-1 draw with Deportivo Tachira in the Primera Division.

The Venezuelan league have introduced a penalty shootout at the end of every match – no matter the result after 90 minutes.

It is an entirely separate competition aimed at increasing engagement and entertainment for supporters.

But fans were left fascinated enough, after every Caracas FC penalty taker decided to intentionally miss all of their spot-kicks after the game.

To seal the deliberate defeat off, the Caracas goalkeeper stood still and watched every opposition penalty to roll past him to ensure his side would lose – but why?

A cluster of yellow cards, a point blank first-half penalty denied, a dodgy VAR call and TWO red cards saw Caracas players furious and coaches dumbfounded.

Caracas striker Everardo Rose, 25, thought he’d found the winner in the final seconds when he smashed home from inside the box after his team-mate guided a header from a brilliant 40-yard free kick.

But the euphoria of his 100th minute strike was cut-short after the lines-woman immediately flagged for offside.

Goalscorer Everardo Rose was then issued a second yellow for taking his shirt off, moments before a tight call was upheld by an unusual VAR check.

Those tuning in to watch the game were then shown a replay that saw a line drawn to indicate the offside.

But incredibly the line looked DIAGONAL, and it left some supporters watching on in complete disbelief at the “lack of professionalism” from VAR.

Even with the VAR line diagonal, the Tachira defender’s back leg looked to have kept Everardo Rose on.

Caracas left-back Renne Rivas was shown a straight red card for his protests too.

The penalty shootout is an entirely separate sponsor-driven competition and has no bearing on the league standings.

The prize for winning the Copa Rei de Marcas’ or ‘Brand of Cups’ is cash and other items, such as motorcycles. 

Each team lists 10 kickers and any of them can compete, even if they have been substituted off or have not played any minutes in the game.

In fact is was the substitute goalkeeper who stood like a statue, to allow every Tachira’s penalty hit the back of the net.

Caracas manager Fernando Aristeguieta backed his players protests.

He said: “These penalty kicks are for entertainment, which no one from any team understands and no fan understand.

“It was a decision that was made there on the field, in the heat of the game.”
