Katie Ledecky tearfully accepted her Team USA closing ceremony flag bearer selection

Olympic swimming legend Katie Ledecky will be a closing ceremony flag bearer for Team USA, and the moment she found out is so special.

I’ll start by saying that Katie held it together better than I ever could. If the U.S. came calling about the chance to be an Olympic ceremony flag bearer, I would be a PUDDLE right there where I stood. But Ledecky played it really cool when she got the Facetime call from fellow swimming Olympian Robert Finke — that is until she processed what was happening.

The next thing you know, she’s fighting back tears and putting on a sweet NASCAR-inspired closing ceremony jacket. As she tearfully zips it up, she says,” Thank you, Team USA…It’s been an honor representing our country here in Paris, and I’m so proud to be a part of this team.” You deserve it, Katie Ledecky. You deserve it.
