DANCE AND ROMANCE (5.55 Goodwood, nap)

We have seen Andrew Balding’s filly only three times but she has improved with every run. After a couple of good efforts on the all-weather, she switched to turf for her handicap debut at Nottingham last time. The winning margin was three-quarters of a length but it could have been further and there’s clearly a lot more to come.

FAIR WIND (4.10 Goodwood, nb)

He had to sit and suffer until well inside the final furlong in a big field at Ascot last time before he scooted through a gap to score. The second home landed a big pot to frank the form and Owen Burrows’ horses are in fine fettle.

NOBLE DYNASTY (3.30 Goodwood, treble)

Charlie Appleby’s strapping son of Dubawi has been better than ever this season. He kicked off the campaign with a hot handicap win on the Rowley track at Newmarket where he beat a useful field without breaking sweat. That earned him a crack at the Group 3 Criterion Stakes on the July course where he put in a smooth performance to strike again. He was always near the pace and found plenty when William Buick pressed the accelerator. He saves his best for this seven-furlong trip and Appleby is having another winner-packed season with an impressive 31 per cent strike-rate.

Templegate’s TV verdicts

GOODWOOD

1.50

ENFJAAR clocked a big personal best when winning the John Smith’s Cup at York last time over this trip.

He had plenty in hand on the dead ground and he looks a Group-standard horse in this handicap.

Tony Montana didn’t get the best of runs in that Knavesmire race and did well to finish third. His form at tricky Windsor and Chester bodes well for handling Goodwood.

Real Gain did well last season and is coming down the weights. His past two runs over a mile haven’t been his best and this longer trip could bring improvement.

Aerion Power has Ryan Moore on board and should prefer this distance to the mile he tackled in the Royal Hunt Cup.

Take Heart is another who ran well in the John Smith’s and has place claims along with Killybegs Warrior who is down the weights in first-time cheekpieces.

2.25

AOMORI CITY scored on debut at Nottingham and stepped up to finish an excellent third in the July Stakes at Newmarket last time.

He kept the revs going once potential superstar Whistlejacket went past so the step up to seven furlongs looks a wise move.

Aidan O’Brien sends over The Parthenon who didn’t have to hit top gear when winning a Gowran maiden. He is already proven over this trip and can take a major step forward.

Cool Hoof Luke was beaten just half a length in the Coventry Stakes last time when leading for most of the way. He’ll be a major threat if lasting out this extra furlong.

Electrolyte was beaten in a photo for that Coventry before a solid fifth in the July Stakes. He needs to build on that.

An Outlaw’s Grace finished strongly over six furlongs in a French Group 2 earlier this month so should relish this test for Richard Hannon who won this race 12 months ago.

3.00

NOBLE DYNASTY got the better of English Oak when they met at Newmarket in May and took a Group 3 with a bit in hand over this trip last time.

That was a high-class effort and a repeat would make him hard to beat.

Kinross has a fantastic record in this race with two wins and a neck second from his three attempts.

He needs to up his game after a modest effort at Newmarket but this trip suits much better.

English Oak was superb when winning a red-hot handicap at Royal Ascot ahead of 25 rivals and deserves this crack at a higher level.

This trip is ideal and he relishes fast and slow conditions.

Audience was last in this 12 months ago when the tacky ground didn’t suit. He kicked off this campaign winning the Group 1 Lockinge and his mile stamina gives him a chance off the front.

3.35

KYPRIOS looks on a different level to these now he’s back to his best.

He won this two years ago and battled hard to regain his Ascot Gold Cup crown last time. He handles any ground and looks hard to stop.

Sweet William looks solid for the forecast spot given he was a good winner on his last visit to this tricky track.

He was a more than handy third in the Ascot Gold Cup latest where he was asked to make up a lot of ground late.

All ground comes the same so he can edge out last year’s third Coltrane who was disappointing at the Royal meeting last time. Dropping in trip should help.

While 2021 winner Trueshan would come into the each-way picture if the ground eases after a good win at Sandown earlier this month.

4.10

FAIR WIND was value for further than his half-length winning margin when winning a big Ascot handicap last time.

He had to wait for the gap and had enough pace to blast through when it came. A 4lb rise in the weights is fair and he won here in May so there are no track fears.

Equilateral came back to form when a close-up third at Sandown latest and is a threat off the same mark.

Democracy Dilemma has been knocking on the door and went close in the Epsom Dash and a York Listed race latest. He won’t be far away.

Lord Riddiford has won the past three runnings of this race which makes him another danger.

Kiwano clocked a fast time when winning at Yarmouth and looks a big each-way price with the extra-places bookies.
