Israel Adesanya jokes about Paddy Pimblett’s weight after impressive UFC 304 win
Israel Adesanya is impressed with Paddy Pimblett and he hopes that the lightweight contender can stay on track.
Pimblett wowed the MMA community this past Saturday at UFC 304 when he choked out Bobby Green, becoming just the third fighter ever to submit the 50-fight veteran and the first to do so since 2009. The win also moved Pimblett’s UFC record to 6-0. When the promotion’s official rankings are next updated, he will likely have a number next to his name for the first time.
In a reaction video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Adesanya praised Pimblett, while joking that he could let himself go after such a momentous win.
“Now watch him get up to 500 pounds in the next two days. Raaaaaaah, f*cking Nutty Professor ass.”
Pimblett’s weight increases are well-documented, with the fighter himself often poking fun at how much his body changes when he’s between fights. At one point, the 155-pounder said that his weight floated above 200 pounds in 2023.
“The Baddy” has continued to deliver on fight night though and his win over Green was his most impressive yet. It took less than a round for Pimblett to tie Green up in a triangle choke and leave him sleeping. Green was somewhat responsible for his own undoing as he initiated the grappling, a move that shocked Adesanya.
“F*ck, I did not think Bobby was going to shoot,” Adesanya said. “That’s why I was like, ‘How’s Paddy going to win?’
“Literally, in the breakdown, I said, ‘How’s Paddy going to win?’ Because on the feet, I was like, Bobby’s in his bag. But then he shot. Damn. F*cking capitalized on it, though.”
