The 20 best international NBA players (Luka Doncic!) not at the 2024 Paris Olympics, ranked
While some of the best basketball players in the world are representing their countries in the 2024 Paris Olympics, other international superstars failed to qualify.
That means that although we will see some of the top talent in the game, there are still several notable names who will get an extended vacation this summer instead of traveling to France for a chance to win the gold medal.
For this exercise, we focused entirely on players who have already suited up for their senior national team in the past. That means that some top international players (e.g. Cameroon’s Pascal Siakam and Nigeria’s OG Anunoby) did not make the list.
Others excluded from this list are players from countries whose teams qualified for the Olympics but were not on the rosters. That includes notable names such as Germany’s Isaiah Hartenstein, Canada’s Andrew Wiggins and Chris Boucher as well as Australia’s Ben Simmons and Matisse Thybulle.
You can check out our snubs from Team USA’s roster and player pool as well.
Let’s run through some of the other notable names you won’t see on these rosters.
What this is: For our list, we ranked these players based on how impactful they are in the NBA. Basically, if you are a casual NBA fan, these are the names you are most likely to recognize based on how well well the played during the 2023-24 season. We looked at several advanced metrics to reach our conclusion.
What this is not: These are not projections that would have factor playing time or their roles for each nation. For example, Goga Bitadze tends to have a bigger usage rate with Georgia than he does with the Magic.
