Robson Conceicao-O’Shaquie Foster Title Fight Rematch Ordered By WBC
O’Shaquie Foster will have his chance to get it back in blood.
An immediate rematch was ordered by the World Boxing Council (WBC) between Foster and current 130-pound titlist Robson Conceicao. The call to action came on Monday, a little more than two weeks after Conceicao claimed a highly questionable split decision win on July 6 in Newark, New Jersey.
Most fans felt that Foster (22-3, 12 knockouts) deserved the nod and to keep his title reign intact. While as much as not stated by the WBC, its decision spoke volumes.
“The WBC Board of Governors has ruled to order a direct rematch between WBC super featherweight champion Robson [Conceicao] & former champion @OshaquieFoster,” WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman stated on X.

Foster remained The Ring’s No. 2-rated junior lightweight following their ESPN-aired bout. Conceicao (19-2-1, 9 KOs) is still No. 8 despite the official win on his record.
Top Rank promotes both fighters, whose respective camps will be required to begin the negotiation process. A purse split was not yet assigned to the matchup. The WBC’s main focal point was to make sure neither boxer entered another fight.
Foster attempted the second defense of the WBC 130-pound title he won in a come-from-behind, 12th round knockout of Rocky Hernandez last Oct. 28 in Cancun, Mexico. On that night, the relatively modest hitting boxer went to the well to bail out the judges.
Most viewers favored his greater accuracy versus Conceicao’s busier punch output. Two of the three judges felt otherwise, which resulted in the title changing hands. Conceicao, a 2016 Olympic Gold medalist, won a belt on his fourth try as a result.
Now, he has to run it back from the fighter from which he snatched it.
