Richard Carapaz claims first Tour de France stage win

Richard Carapaz became the first rider from Ecuador to win a stage at the Tour de France on Wednesday with his victory in the mountainous Stage 17.

The 31-year-old Olympic gold medalist finished the 178-kilometer journey from Saint-Paul-Trois-Chateaux to SuperDevoluy 37 seconds ahead of Britain's Simon Yates. Spain's Enric Mas placed third.
