English fans booed Carlos Alcaraz for bringing up the Euros final after advancing to Wimbledon championship

It takes a lot for the Wimbledon crowd to turn on 21-year-old superstar Carlos Alcaraz, but he provided the fans at center court with all the motivation they needed Friday after defeating Daniil Medvedev 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to Sunday’s single’s championship.

As Alcaraz was answering post-match questions on the court, the reigning Wimbledon champ invoked the England-Spain matchup in Sunday’s Euro 2024 championship game to a less than desirable effect.

Alcaraz, who is also from Spain, said Sunday would be “a really good day for Spanish people” and instantly incurred the wrath of the overwhelmingly English crowd at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

"It's going to be a really good day for Spanish people as well, with the Euro Cup."

Realizing his mistake, Alcaraz tried to recover by noting he didn’t say Spain was going to win, but, well, let’s be honest. Spain is probably going to win.
