Spain were taking on Gibraltar in their Group K – Round 2 game, with Noguera and Jose Justica leading the Spaniard’s charge.

Fans were brought to the attention of Noguera as a clip online showed team-mate Justica hit a stunning 143-checkout.

And fans could not help but notice the 34-year-old uncanny resemblance to ex-Argentina Fifa World Cup Gonzalo Higuain.

Taking to social media, one fan said: “What is Gonzalo Higuain doing playing darts for Spain?”

A second said: “Prime Higuain aswell.”

Another asked: “Why is Higuaín playing darts for Spain?”

A fourth added: “Noguera looks so much on Gonzalo Higuain.”

Higuain, 36, retired from football at the start of 2023.

He started out his career with River Plate before moving to Europe and starring for a number of top European clubs.

These included Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, AC Milan and Chelsea before he completed a switch to Inter Miami in 2020.

He had his most successful spell in Italy with Napoli, hitting 91 goals and 26 assists in 146 games.

Stints at Real Madrid with 121 goals and Juventus with 91 goals were also impressive.

But a short loan move to the Blues in January 2019 yielded only five goals in 18 games, three of which came against teams who were relegated that season.

Higuain’s Iberian doppelganger was eliminated from the Darts World Cup as Spain lost 4-3 to Gibraltar.
