Scotland vs Hungary was so bad BBC producers were left with awkward live TV decision with NO highlights to show

NOBODY enjoyed watching Scotland vs Hungary last night, least of all the Tartan Army.

And luckily for those who chose to watch Germany vs Switzerland, they weren’t subjected to it during the half-time break either – because the BBC couldn’t find ANY highlights to show.

Scotland crashed out of Euro 2024 in heartbreaking fashion after Hungary grabbed a late, late winner – in the 100TH MINUTE.

But the first 45 minutes at the Stuttgart Arena were so bad that producers at the Beeb struggled to put together a highlights package to show viewers who were watching the other game in Group A.

Hungary managed the sole shot on target from the first half – a 25-yard hit and hope from Bendegúz Bolla.

Scotland had to wait until the last ten minutes of the game before they tested Hungarian goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi.

In the first half, Scotland enjoyed the majority of the play but failed to create anything of note.

At one point in the first 20 minutes, Steve Clarke’s side boasted 82 percent possession.

But much of the passing was laboured, sideways and slow and the likes of Che Adams and John McGinn were peripheral figures.

If it wasn’t for the fact history was on the line from a Scottish perspective, you would forgive the Tartan Army back at home for tuning out.

When it came to the half-time interval of Germany vs Switzerland, which was being shown on BBC Two, presenter Mark Chapman had the awkward duty of relaying to the audience that they wouldn’t be able to see any of the action from the corresponding game on BBC One – because there simply wasn’t any to show.

He said: “The game between Scotland and Hungary is goalless. We were going to bring you some highlights but there have been seven touches in the box in the whole of the game, that’s from both teams.

“There’s been one shot on target from Hungary and five shots in total, Hungary have had all of those, so we haven’t actually been able to find any highlights to bring you.

“But it is goalless, and it’s over on BBC One.”
