Diamondbacks place C Gabriel Moreno (thumb) on IL

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed Gold Glove catcher Gabriel Moreno on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a sprained left thumb.

Moreno departed the Diamondbacks' 5-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday in the bottom of the sixth inning due to the injury. His thumb was hit by Cristian Pache's foul tip in the third inning and he initially remained in the game.
