Hall of Fame prep coach Robert Hughes dies at 96

Hall of Famer Robert Hughes, the winningest boys high school basketball coach in U.S. history, has died at 96.

Multiple media outlets in the Dallas-Fort Worth area reported on his passing Wednesday.

Hughes won a record 1,333 games at I.M. Terrell High (1958-73) and Dunbar High (1973-2005) in Fort Worth, Texas.

He won five Texas state championships and 35 district titles and was named the National High
