Cowgirls Get Shut Out Again, Stanford Eliminates OSU from WCWS

Oklahoma State's softball team was shut out for the second straight time and eliminated from the Women's College World Series, losing to Stanford 8-0 in a six-inning run rule at Devon Park in Oklahoma City on Friday night.

The Cardinal scored in five straight innings from the second inning to the sixth, while pitcher Nijaree Cannady kept OSU at bay, holding the Cowgirls to just three hits and striking out seven in six innings.

In the second, Ava Gall connected for a solo home run to put the Cardinal up 1-0.

Stanford got two more in the third inning, when Jade Berry hit a soft line drive off the glove of OSU third baseman Tallen Edwards, allowing two Cardinal runs to score to make it 3-0.

Kaitlyn Lim hit a solo home run in the fourth to make it 4-0.

In the fifth, Stanford got two more, as Gall singled in a run, and Emily Jones drove in a run to make it 6-0 Cardinal.

Stanford got two more in the sixth on a walked-in run and a sacrifice fly with an obstruction call for the final run.

OSU finishes the season 49-12, with a fifth straight appearance in the Women's College World Series.

Stanford will play the loser of the Oklahoma-UCLA game on Sunday at 6:00 pm.
