Mason Greenwood releases 52-word statement on future after new Getafe chant about Man Utd ace
MASON GREENWOOD released a 52-word statement on his future as Getafe fans begged him to stay with a new chant.
The 22-year-old Manchester United forward has spent the season on loan with the Spanish club.

Greenwood’s future remains unclear as he enters the final year of his United contract.
But the forward sent a message to fans as he posted a statement on social media.
It read: “Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season.
“Thank you for making me feel welcomed and one of your own. I enjoyed every second, alongside my teammates and club.
“A bitter sweet ending, but it was a pleasure to play for you, I wish you all the best.”
Meanwhile, fans came up with a new chant for Greenwood on what could be his final appearance for Getafe.
They yelled “Mason, stay” at the end of the Mallorca game during Getafe’s lap of honour.

Greenwood acknowledged their chants with a thumbs-up.
Several fans in the stands were spotted in his No 12 shirt and tried to get his attention before he went down the tunnel.
The president of Getafe, Angel Torres, has also reiterated his desire to keep the United loanee beyond this campaign.
But despite their pleas for him to remain in Spain, Greenwood’s football career is up in the air.
He ended the season with 36 appearances and ten goals in all competitions for Getafe.
It was his first term back on the pitch after being suspended by the Red Devils in January 2022 before charges nine months later of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour towards a woman, which he strongly denied.
After criminal charges were dropped in February 2023, United briefly considered reintegrating their academy product before a quick U-turn, deciding the player — who has a contract until summer 2025 — was no longer in their plans.
With a return to England highly unlikely, Greenwood has attempted to reignite his career in Europe following a loan move last September.
There have since been links to the likes of Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Napoli.
But the chances of Getafe securing another loan move are slim, with United keen to cash in on the former England ace before his deal expires.
Getafe president Torres has been vocal on wanting to tie Greenwood down again. But he said: “Nothing has changed, we still depend on Manchester United. I don’t think there will be quick news.”
Greenwood’s potential farewell — in which he played 90 minutes — was marred by an injury as Getafe keeper David Soria’s collided with Mallorca’s Cyle Larin.
Soria needed lengthy treatment with an ambulance forced to enter the pitch but the Spanish keeper eventually walked off the pitch before being subbed.
Greenwood had chances before his side went ahead on 48 minutes through Gaston Alvarez.
But they were hit by two last-gasp goals from Vedat Muriqi then Pablo Maffeo.
After picking up Getafe’s Player of the Month in April, Greenwood said: “It’s been an amazing experience. I’m glad that I’ve played for Getafe. It’s a very good league.”
New United shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe said in February: “It’s quite clear we have to make a decision.”
