Sooners Beat Seminoles to Advance to Women's College World Series
Oklahoma's softball team got a two-run home run from Kasidi Pickering and solid pitching from three different Sooners to beat Florida State 4-2 in Game 2 of the Super Regional at Love's Field in Norman, to sweep the event and advance to their 8th straight Women's College World Series.
Pickering's homer in the fifth extended OU's lead to 4-1 and Nicole May pitched the final two innings to clinch the win.
OU also got great defensive plays from Jayda Coleman, who took away a home run with a leaping catch in the fifth inning, a diving catch of a foul pop-up by Cydney Sanders in the sixth.
OU manufactured their first two runs.
In the third inning, Ella Parker was thrown out in a rundown, and Tiare Jennings scored to make it 1-0.
In the fifth, Coleman scored on a wild pitch.
Oklahoma won their record 18th straight NCAA Tournament game, and their record 16th straight win in a super regional.
The Sooners will be going to their 17th WCWS, which starts Thursday at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.
