Five Bouts Set to Heat Up Toledo City
By Rene Bonsubre,Jr
TOLEDO CITY, CEBU, PHILIPPINES – Local favorite Jusue “Pistolero” Bastillada is set to entertain local fans Saturday when he squares off against Jay-Ar Aliasot in a six round bout.
Bastillada works full-time as a police officer in Toledo City aside from being a legit pro boxer with a 6-1,3 KO's record. Aliasot (6-6,5 KO’s) will be looking to stop his five bout losing streak dating back to 2017. Both weighed 127 lbs during the official weigh-in Friday.
Reycar Auxilio (4-3-1, 3 KO’s) will face journeyman Marjun Tabamo (10-22-4). Auxilio weighed in at 125 lbs, Tabamo stepped on the scales at 123.9 lbs.
There will be a total of five bouts in this card set to take place at the Baranggay Subayon Gym in Toledo.
Rounding up the card are - Allan Villanueva (11-4,8KO's) - 161 lbs vs Jhun Ryan Quimbo (7-22-2,0KO) - 165.5 lbs - 6 rounds, Jeffrey Aguilar (3-2,3KO's) - 124.7 lbs vs Ponciano Rimandiman (10-7-1,5 KO's) - 125.6 lbs - 6 rounds, Mark Anthony Sarino (1-0,0 KO) 116.1 lbs vs Renante Noblefranca (0-6) -115.6 lbs - 4 rounds.
ADDENDUM:
Philippine boxing received a much needed boost last week when Melvin Jersualem dethroned Japanese foe Yudai Shigeoka for the WBC 105 lb division world title. The Philippines went through another short title-less drought and was at the receiving end of losses from Japanese fighters. No surprise really, Japan is currently having its own golden age, thanks to Naoya Inoue.
What most Filipino boxing fans do not realize is that you need to patronize small cards like the ones in Toledo City, and pay for tickets in those shows that charge for it. That's the only way to keep promoters and gyms afloat in these trying times.
