Premier League and EFL probe into alleged Leicester breaches of financial rules
March 22 – Following in the footsteps of Premier League clubs Everton and Nottingham Forest, tier-2 frontrunners Leicester City could be the latest team to be sanctioned for overspending as part of the ongoing crackdown at the top of English football.
The Premier League said Leicester has been referred to an independent commission for an alleged breach of the competition’s profitability and sustainability rules during their previous seasons in the top flight. The period in question is the three years up to and including the 2022-23 season.
