Decorated grappling standout Gabi Garcia books return to MMA

Multiple-time jiu-jitsu champion Gabi Garcia books is making her way back into the cage in Brazil.

Gabi Garcia is back.

The multiple-time jiu-jitsu world champion has booked her return to MMA. Garcia (6-0) is scheduled to compete in a rematch against Barbara Nepomuceno at Centurion FC 19 on April 25 in São Paulo, Brazil.

The news was first reported by MMA Fighting on Tuesday. Both the promotion and Garcia subsequently confirmed the matchup on social media. Although no weight class was announced, the two previously competed at heavyweight.

Garcia, a four-time ADCC champion, hasn’t competed in MMA since fighting Nepomuceno (0-1) in December 2018 at Rizin 14 – a fight she won by first-round submission. This will also be Nepomuceno’s first MMA fight since, although she’s competed and won in kickboxing.

Garcia’s return at Centurion FC 19 will be the first time she fights in the Americas, as she’s done all of her MMA career in Asia. Garcia fought six times under the Rizin FF banner, and once under Road FC. She won all fights by stoppage, with the exception of one, which was ruled a no contest due to an accidental eye poke from Garcia’s part.
