Why Anthony Edwards may play the 2024 All-Star Game shooting only with his left hand

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has a bold plan for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game. Let’s see how it works out for him.

Edwards, 22, will suit up for the second All-Star appearance of his young professional career. But he says he will have a unique approach for this game that might surprise some fans as well as his head coach, Chris Finch.

The former No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft told Chris Haynes about his strategy.

Edwards, who is right-handed, told Haynes he plans to shoot exclusively with his left hand:

“I’m going to shoot it with my left hand the whole game. I’m going to shoot it with my left hand the entire game … It’s an All-Star Game. Ain’t no field goal percentage.”

It is hard to tell if Edwards is trolling or if he is serious, but he was indeed seen shooting left-handed during the NBA All-Star Practice.

This is not the first time we have seen Edwards practice shooting with his opposite hand. Edwards recently suggested he will shoot with his left hand during a regular-season game, too.

He recently beat Timberwolves teammate Mike Conley in a drill while shooting left-handed jumpers. Edwards is perhaps ambidextrous and he reportedly prefers to finish with his left hand.

Although the Western Conference (-150) is favored to win against the East in a return to the old format, Edwards (+1100) is considered unlikely to win the MVP of the All-Star Game.

His projected scoring total has also taken a significant hit, per FanDuel, from 17.5 points to 12.5 points.

If he does win it while playing with his left hand, however, that will go down as one of the most legendary performances in the history of the NBA All-Star Game.
