Super Bowl 2024: Poll of oddsmakers likes 49ers to beat Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs
Even though oddsmakers are the ones behind the counter taking all of the bets on Super Bowl 58 between the Chiefs and 49ers, they have opinions on the game themselves. And they’re usually pretty well-informed ones, too.
I asked 16 oddsmakers across the country for a score prediction for the Super Bowl, and the slight majority (nine) liked the 49ers to win the game. The other seven supported the Chiefs bringing home the Lombardi Trophy. Interestingly enough, nine of the 13 liked the game to go UNDER 47.5 points.
“San Francisco’s resiliency over the last few weeks shows up yet again and outperforms Mahomes, Kelce and Co.,” Jeff Sherman, vice president of risk at SuperBook Sports said. Sherman liked the 49ers to win, 20-17. “The Chiefs defense dictates this one staying under the total.”
Other oddsmakers liked Kansas City’s playoff experience.
“The game is a coin flip in my opinion,” Adam Pullen, assistant director of trading at Caesars Sportsbook told For The Win. Pullen liked a 28-27 Chiefs victory. “All signs point to it being a closer game. I’ll give the edge to the Chiefs and their experience. The 49ers defense looked shaky as well in the playoffs.
As of Friday afternoon, the 49ers were 2-point favorites with a consensus total of 47.5 at sportsbooks.
