Jason Kelce Explains Stubborn Strategy Behind Pro Bowl Performance That Went Viral

0

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce has an easygoing, media- and fan-friendly personality that belies the fact that his job takes grit beyond comprehension.

After all, here is a man who continues to willfully serve as the battering ram for the Eagles' lethal quarterback sneak at the advanced age of 36.

Last Thursday, Kelce put his stick-to-itiveness on full display during a Pro Bowl snapping competition—where he continuously, hilariously and (after several tries) successfully aimed for the money five-point target during the darts-like game.

On Thursday, the center addressed his uneven performance on New Heights, his podcast with his brother—Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Jason assured viewers he had thrived in warm-ups for the competition, but was unable to repeat his performance at first.

"I asked (the Minnesota VikingsAndrew) DePaola, (the NFC's) long snapper—I was like, 'Should I just try and get some points?'... He was like, 'To be honest, you're pretty good at snapping, so you should try and go for the five-hole,'" he said.

That's precisely what Jason did.

"I started going at it and I was like, 'Man, this is way harder than warm-ups,'" Jason said. "Everybody's looking at me."

"I'm not gonna lie, I started chuckling," Travis interjected. "Because you could tell, with you looking between your legs, the blood was going to your head."

Even when the center ultimately succeeded, it came at a price.

"I broke the camera that was back there," he said. "The camera crew had me sign the one I broke."
