Who is Jamie George’s wife Katie?
Katie George (nee Stanyard) tied the knot with Jamie in 2020 after the couple had been together for six years.
Saracens was relegated from rugby union‘s top flight, Premiership Rugby, at the end of the 2019-20 season.
And because of the second-tier United Rugby Championship‘s shutdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Jamie found himself with some unexpected time off.
He used this surprise vacation time to tie the knot with his longterm partner Katie.
He was overjoyed to have been able to host 15 close friends and family at their December 2020 service — which was held the last weekend before another lockdown would have made the gathering illegal due to the restrictions.
Jamie told MailOnline: “So lucky, it was class.”
“We tried to make the most of the relegation by having a Christmas wedding, which you can’t usually do as rugby players, then we had to restrict it to 15 people.
“But it was still really special. I had a drink with the England boys too at the Lensbury, so I turned that into my stag, selfishly.”
The front-rower’s Saracens teammate Elliot Daly was his best man at the ceremony.
On the subject of his groomsman, Jamie said: “If you need a hype-man or anyone to bring energy — we had a few people that didn’t know each other — you throw Elliot and his fiancee in and they’re absolute gold dust.”
And speaking to RugbyWorld about what it was like during the pandemic-induced downtime, Jamie said of his wife: “My partner, Katie, is working from home, so Monday to Friday, nine ’til five, I’m trying to occupy myself.
“I’m finding jobs to do around the house, things I’ve put off.
“We also have a dog, Otto, so it’s been great to take him out.”
Katie is often see cheering Jamie on from the sidelines when he’s competing for club and country.
What does Katie George do for a living?
Katie is a project manager consultant for KS TWO Consulting Ltd.
She reportedly also works for the Energy Networks Association, but information no on her role is currently available.
Katie completed a degree in geography at the University of Edinburgh, where she played on the women’s hockey team.
