49ers Owner Jed York Offers Perfect Answer to Question About Super Bowl LIV Memories
San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York doesn't have any good memories of the team's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2020 Super Bowl.
York’s 49ers, who lost to the Chiefs 31–20 in Super Bowl LIV, will get a chance to avenge that defeat in Super Bowl LVIII against Kansas City at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
But, understandably, talk of this year’s matchup will revert back to the 2020 clash between the two teams, as it did during 49ers owner Jed York’s session with the media on Thursday.
York was asked about what he remembers from the ’20 game, specifically the fourth quarter. The 49ers owner responded by saying that he remembers star pass rusher Nick Bosa “getting held on third and long,” per KNBR on X, formerly Twitter.

The play in question, a third-and-15 with the 49ers up by 10 points in the fourth quarter with a little over seven minutes remaining, resulted not in a holding call, but in a massive Patrick Mahomes completion to Tyreek Hill for a first down in perhaps the biggest moment of the game.
It’s not the first time that Bosa and holding have been brought up in the same sentence this week, as the 49ers star himself said the Chiefs offensive tackles “hold a lot” while speaking to the media on Thursday.
York and the 49ers will have to hope that this 49ers–Chiefs Super Bowl installment provides better memories.
