Grant Williams Copies Nicolas Batum With Reaction to Luka Doncic’s 73-Point Game
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Dončić put on a show on Friday night, totaling 73 points in a 148–143 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. It was such a brilliant performance that his teammates were trying to latch onto Dončić’s scoring ability on the night.
After the game, Grant Williams posted a picture of him and Dončić in the locker room, saying the two combined to score 82 points in the win. Williams scored just nine points in the game, a modest performance as Dončić stole the spotlight. But he was technically correct, nonetheless.
82 points right here???????? Congrats brother that was special to witness it pic.twitter.com/P6MbW8Zuth

If Williams’s post seems familiar, it’s because Nicolas Batum made the same joke earlier this week. After Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid scored 70 points on Monday night, Batum joked that he and Embiid combined for 75, despite Batum scoring just five points.
75 points right there ????????. Congrats brother that was special to witness it pic.twitter.com/cCQbdea9wr

Williams even used the exact same phrasing in his post, all the way down to the flexing emoji.
Lost in the jokes is the fact that, over a five-day span, two players scored 70 points in a game, meaning only 10 players in NBA history have reached that milestone. In fact, four players have now scored 70 in a game since last season, matching the number of players to reach that feat between 1964 and 2022.
